Pittsburgh has a lot of artists. What other artists from the burgh would you like to work with?
I would like to work with Asco100K, Meez, FTR and Tolly Bandz, they are in my lyrical group.
How has having a father as an artist influenced you and what have you learned from him that you applied to your craft?
Having a father has influenced my music because I was on stage with my dad performing & I wanted to live that dream.
Tell us about your name.
My name “Prinse Tay” was selected because I am young. The “S” in “Prinse” stands for successful. “Tay” comes from my name “Tamar.”
I have seen you quoted ““I’m building a kingdom. I’m not the king…yet! I’m just a prince…for now.” What are some things you want this kingdom to include?
My kingdom will include my team of musicians, producers, graphic designers & engineers. We will all combine to produce one musical force.
I understand you are planning a video shoot for one of your songs. What can you tell us about the song
and video you are working on?
I am currently working in a video for my single “Prinse Tay.” This song is an outline about me, my city & I also mention in one line “And on 4-12, my CD dropping.” This will be my release date of my album.
What can we expect next from you?
My next two projects include a single “Pittsburgh Girls” which explains itself through the title. And a promotional track to keep my audience interested.
We have a limited number of hiphop venues in the city. Does being a younger artist in the scene help open or close the door on venue options available to you?
Being young & performing in music venues in Pittsburgh is an honor. I would enjoy to perform at more venues in the city later. Performing does open doors for me because when I am older, I will be open to more venues.
What accomplishments are you most proud of at this point in your hiphop career?
I am most proud of performing at the Rex Theatre. I was honored & amazed when I looked at the stage, then when I was time to perform, I put on a show.
You started out as a poet. Do you still write pieces with poetry in mind rather than music?
Poetry has transferred to rhymes as I aged & got better. Every once & a while I write my English II teacher a poem & she revises it, then posts it to her wall.
POPGH stands for People of Pittsburgh Going Hard. How do you go hard for your city?
I have full city spirit & culture. I always put my city first, I was born & raised here.
