Last night, February 6th, 2014 was a great night for Pittsburgh hip hop and r&b. The Pittsburgh OMG (On My Grind) Talent Showcase, planned by JDM Talent Showcase partnered with Tokyo Toni/Shalana Hunter kicked off at Pittsburghs Hard Rock Cafe!

I had the pleasure from one of the judges seats of being part of one of the best talent events to happen in Pittsburgh. 200+ people came out in full support of the talent that hit the stage. The Judges for the night where myself (Jay Connor), Shalana Hunter (Blac Chynas mother), HollyHood and another rep from OMG.

There were 19 acts performing 7 minute time slots. Many acts stood out to me but at the end of the day 3 winners needed to be selected. The judges added up the votes and handed over the selections to the host of the evening, SwaGg of 92.1.

GRIMEY CLICK took home the 1st place prize and trophy. They hit the stage with a solid performance and came in with a heavy crowd of supporters.

SWOOZY took the 2nd place prize and trophy. I had not heard his music previous to the event but I was very impressed. His bars hit you with a message and were delivered with an impressive flow.

FATAL took home the 3rd place prize and trophy. I had already seen Fatal perform and various other shows. Fatal and his camp hit the stage with energy and a clear focus on the prize.

It was also good to see a major venue with a strong music reputation like the Hard Rock opening up its doors to hip hop talent show where many other venues have closed its doors.

The evening went off with no issues, drawled a large crowd of support and ended with the top 3 from the night leaving with trophies and price packs to help further their music careers. This was a win for the artists as well as the Pittsburgh hip hop and r&b scene as a whole.
