A few years ago Connect acquired a beat from Grieves just before he signed with Rhymesayers Entertainment. Instantly the perfect subject matter came to mind and pieces of a hook were developed. There was just one problem. The experiences that seemed to fit the imagined vibe of the beat had not been experienced yet by Connect or his then group. The beat found its way to the backburner, only temporarily. Recently, Fortified PhonetX (Blacklisted, Connect, Moemaw Naedon) hit the road for a short tour. Tour stuff happened, needed experiences occurred, and the beat reemerged.

“Bumps in the Road” is the latest single from Fortified PhonetX (FPX) and is featured on their label’s (Pittsburgh based Surface Level Records) most recent sampler. It’s a rare type of song for the three man crew, who typically handle all of their own production, containing two strong verses about their desire to travel to share their music and what “bumps” are sure to arise along the way. Currently, FPX is working on their follow-up to their debut album, The Plastic Eaters, and plotting their next adventure across the US terrain and beyond…
