About Us

Started as an idea over a few beers, PeopleOfPittsburgh.com was originally launched as a site for posting interesting or humorous photos from around the 'Burgh. Over the next few years, having begun some promotional work with local Hip-Hop artists, Jay and Silent Jon developed a love for the local music scene. Having seen what all was involved with getting promotion for local artists, it was decided that PoPgH.com's mission would be to give every artist an equal chance to get their name out there and be heard! POPGH is owned, run and managed by Jay and Silent Jon Entertainment, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Joe Floe
]oe_F|oe began as a hobby since he enjoyed writing in school. He began listening to the artists around Pittsburgh when he was first introduced to Young Midas and Vinnie Vocals who are friends of his fathers. That got him looking into other local talent rather than snagging up mainstream music like many his age were doing on Limewire. This hobby became a passion. After his first interview with HollyHood dropped, he got the confidence from the people who liked what he was doing. This boost led him to his next interview with Marcieglo, and all his interviews to follow. His passion will hopefully help PoPgH.com become a regularly visited website by some great names in music as well as the fans. We have all worked hard for good things to come. Joe_F|oe is grateful for the website and its opportunities and is happy to be apart of the movement.

Shelbie Woo
Started working for PoPgH.com in July of 2011 writing album and mixtape reviews, as well as interviewing music producers and artists. In the time since then, she has interviewed 5 artists and producers and reviewed 7 albums and mixtapes. From before the beginning of ShelbieWoo's career, she listened and knew of some of Pittsburgh's music artists, but her PoPgH.com position really opened her eyes and ears to what Pittsburgh's music scene had to offer, while hoping to open the eyes of the public. Since beginning her position, PoPgH.com has featured over 50 mixtapes and albums, numerous shows, and many followers of the site. ShelbieWoo would just like to thank her colleagues and everyone who has helped with the progression of her career. ShelbieWoo is going hard!

Selena U AKA MyCity Mag
Comes straight from the streets of Braddock, Pennsylvania. Her love for music came when she first heard "Adore" by Prince, she would walk around her house at the age of 5 playing this song on her moms boombox with her favorite stuffed bunny in hand. She could not get enough of him. Soon she started listening to Lisa Lisa, Fullforce, Force MD's, Heavy D and the Boyz, Eric B and Rahkim, The Gap Band, Zap and Roger, Otis , Peabo Bryson, Color Me Bad, Craig Mac, Lady Rage, The Bridge Is Over, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, East 1999, Coolio, O.D.B, Goody Mob, Soul 4 Real, Biz, Do or Die, Twister, Outkast, Busta Rhymes, N.W.A, Snoop and a whole list of others. Her moms radio soon became her radio as she would have to play it when she did her hair, put her in the tub ect... She wasnt allowed to have it at bedtime soooo she use to turn on the "Box" channel and turn the volume down but always got caught cause she would sing all the songs. The first album her mom ever got her was Da Brat "Funkdafied"... Music was her drug because no matter how she felt there was a song for it. Her love of music is why she does what she does to be involved with the local music scene... It started from Prince to now what we call the 412. She loves her City and goes hard for it.  Selena joined forces with POPGH.com in late 2011 as it became obvious that she shared the same mission and liked what POPGH.com is trying to offer local artists.
